The estate has been part of the Serra de Collserola Natural Park since 2010, by virtue of Decree 146/2010, of 19 October, which approved the declaration of the Serra de Collserola Natural Park. This protection was justified by the importance of the natural heritage of the Hill due to its strategic location, its landscape values and its valuable ethnological heritage built throughout history within its area.
The area is also included in the Natura 2000 Network and in the Plan for Areas of Natural Interest (PEIN), in the category of coastal mountain area. Among the habitats of community interest (HIC), key elements of conservation in this protected natural area, there are the Mediterranean pine forests (code 9540), which must be preserved and any impact must be avoided, according to GOV/112/2006, of 5 September, by which special protection areas for birds (ZEPA) are designated and the proposal for sites of community importance (LIC) is approved. According to the management guidelines for coastal mountain areas included in the XN2000, such as the Turó de Montcada, it will be necessary to reduce conflicts between habitats and/or species of community interest (such as Mediterranean pine forests) and human activities. According to these same guidelines, when drafting Fire Prevention Plans and associated measures (water points, burning, clearing, firebreaks, etc.), the presence of habitats and/or species of community interest must be taken into account and any impact on them must be avoided. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in a penalty.
Article 45 of Law 42/2007 on Natural Heritage and Biodiversity only allows the carrying out of projects or actions in these spaces if they are fully justified and following a fairly strict procedure. In general, some activities, such as forestry, hunting, recreational and sports uses, are very restricted, and certain sports activities, camping, hotel and recreational complexes, as well as the establishment of hunting areas, are incompatible.
